The Oak Ridge office currently has 20 realtors. They serve Anderson, Union, Morgan, Roane, Knox and other surrounding communities.Oak Ridge is a unique area with a lot of history both in the industry and housing selections. Starting in October 1942, the US Army Corp of Engineers began acquiring the Oak Ridge area for the Manhattan Project. Housing for families was constructed according to a series of templates, identified by letters. The federal government projects at Oak Ridge are reduced in size and scope, but are still the city's principal economic activity and one of the biggest employers in the Knoxville metropolitan area.The city operates a preschool, four elementary schools enrolling kindergarten through grade 4, two middle schools enrolling grades 5 through 8, and one high school enrolling grades 9 through 12. The newly remodeled Oak Ridge High School underwent extensive reconstruction, starting in 2005 and completed in 2008, to update its facilities, incorporate significant energy-conserving features, and construct newer, better equipped learning areas. It is ranked among the top 1200 schools in the nation according to Newsweek magazine.Other local schools include Roane State Community College, Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education, Oak Ridge Associated Universities and the University of Tennessee Forestry Stations and Arboretum.
